The Polaroid Roku TVs also support Airplay 2 for receiving content from Apple devices, and are compatible with the Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants. In the UK, Roku users can watch live TV via a built-in Freeview tuner as well as the thousands of free and paid ‘channels’ available on the Roku system - channels that include the BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, My5, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and Paramount+, plus the Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music audio services. Given the TV’s focus on streamed content, though, this isn’t too big a deal given that all streaming services only use the ‘lossy’ version of Dolby Atmos anyway. The lack of any HDMI 2.1 support also means there’s no support for HDMI’s eARC feature, which can be used to pass lossless Dolby Atmos sound through the TV to compatible soundbars or AVR. Gamers, meanwhile, should know that - predictably, given that the sets are pitched as budget models - the Polaroid Roku TVs’ HDMIs are only built to the 2.0 specification, so there’s no support for the latest gaming features of 4K/120Hz feeds, variable refresh rates or automatic low latency mode switching.
